What can I tell you about me?

Hmm... well, I'm a writer and devoted cook who thrives on collaboration and creativity. I'm also what they call a "Hollywood Brat" and have spent the last 30+ years working in entertainment, crafting blogs for health and wellness sites, and mentoring and editing authors. I love working with writers — non-fiction, fiction, film, blog, whatever — and figured it was time for me to give some of that attention to my own work through my first novel. I've also been known to guide people past their fear of cooking by helping them embrace their kitchen and what they can do in it.

As a native Los Angeleno who loves the ocean but hates the heat (I dream of moving to Scandinavia someday), I've always been a bit of a quirky, topsy-turvy sort of human. My brother, sister, and I grew up with parents who inspired and encouraged us to indulge our passions and imaginations. With that permission I became a serial daydreamer who devoured books and adored cooking thanks to the groundwork laid again by our parents who introduced us to the deep connections made and stories shared through preparing and sharing a meal. I was riveted by the flourish of PBS' Chef Graham Kerr and I wanted to be Julia Child.

Combining that love of bonding through food with the extraordinary things I've experienced in my life and my passion for storytelling led to The Grisly Goremet. Well, that and, ya know, my then-3-year-old son throwing out the idea of me writing about a vampire chef while he was watching "Emeril LIVE" way back when. But that's a whole other story I'm happy to tell you if we ever meet.

Single mom to two amazing sons, two ancient doggoes, and a revolving door of rabbits, I'm a former Universal Studios Tour-Hollywood Barbie Rocker who sang and ate my way through parts of Asia in my 20s, survived an angry elephant charge in Kenya in my 30s, wrote a couple of movies and created a tween girl IP for Crayola in my 40s, and dream of cooking through every one of my over 400 cookbooks before I'm 80.
